EDUCATIONAL / ECOTHERAPY

As a registered care farm, Brynmawr is very dynamic. We are always seeking ways to maximize the benefit of our work for both people and planet - aware that we are what organic farming and a life led in the natural world can offer.

As well as providing individuals and groups with the opportunity to learn about organic farming, over the years at Brynmawr we have provided positive experiences for people from diverse backgrounds facing various challenges. We believe that engaging both children and adults with, and caring for, animals, tending to plants and vegetables, and performing simple productive tasks in a natural environment can help any individual to address their emotional, social, and educational needs as well as grow, and learn.

Many people benefit from, and prefer, a practical element to their learning, therapy, and life experiences. Research has shown that practical outdoor activities in wide-open natural spaces, help improve concentration, learning, confidence, self-esteem, self-awareness, social skills, communication, movement, and coordination amongst many other life skills.

Because this is at the core of our ethos and beliefs, we offer all guests, the option to engage with us in our work on the farm and the opportunity to gain from this. This is an optional extra for paying guests, and we can offer an experience most suited to you in terms of the nature of the activity and duration. As well as being a friendly and experienced family team, Gleice has also practiced as a psychologist, and both, she and Trevor have the ability and experience of relating to people with additional needs if required.

In addition to the offer of practical sessions available to paying guests, any group or individual looking for a bespoke educational experience can approach us via email to discuss what options are available at that time prices for group activities vary depending upon size and requirements of the group – speak to Trevor and Gleice for details. The price is from £25 per hour for a couple and additional adults or children £5 for the guests staying in some of our holiday accommodations.
